Reality is fragile as glass for our Las Vegas party girl as she escapes through the Red Mirror to ancient Egypt, facing death and intrigue to find love on a heroine’s journey that saves the Emerald Tablet.

One life is not enough for Isis. The Red Mirror is the 1st volume in a trilogy of parallel stories crossing back and forth in time from the glamorous Las Vegas Strip to the magical Nile.

A languid sail down the Nile on a quest for a father she has never known leads to a desert hunt, a raging sandstorm and kidnapping by Persians. Only the Hathor Power can save Isis from the General, but her world is turned on end when she discovers the dark side of love.

One Woman, four men, many lifetimes. The sensual and intelligent Red Mirror Series redefines historical fiction, time travel and mystic adventure, weaving ancient and modern times with romance and shifting realities in action-packed tales of sensual suspense.

(I love the first two books and am really looking forward to the third) I love Isis because its unique, suspenseful, adventurous and erotic. The plot is fun, adventurous, and somewhat mysterious and its neat to see characters from the first book reappear as different characters in the second. I like the transitions from the modern day to ancient times.I really enjoy the interchanges between characters in present and past times and the complexity of their relationships which is intertwined with their continued development as multiple characters. I also really enjoy the historically accurate elements to these books. You can really tell that the author takes great care in researching the time periods she sets the books in. Hands down my favorite trilogy.

my only complaint is the grammar errors and obvious typos. Some people care a lot about grammar, I am not one of those people and I don't feel it takes away from the books while you are reading it.

The Red Mirror The Isis Trilogy Book 1 edition by S L Gore Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

History is in the eye of the beholder and Sandra Nielsen has made ancient history a much more interesting place and time than I ever remember it being. Historical fiction like this, based on solid research and knowledge, brings the lessons of these times into today's life. Read it and see if I'm not right!! Isis is an interesting lady.
I was hooked from the beginning! Not having read any real entertainment fiction in a long time I was surprised how involved and invested I became. I went through all three books back to back and was sad when it ended. I would recommend them all for a real adventure in reading!
Fifty Shades of Grey? Even better. Isis rules in 50 shades of full color. This is Book One in the Red Mirror Series, so step through that mirror and begin an exciting adventure as seen through the eyes of a woman whose fulfillment of her erotic and romantic destiny blends past and present. From an ordinary life amidst the glitter of Las Vegas to the sprawling ancient city of Thebes, our heroine soon discovers that her survival depends on her coming into her own as a resourceful, powerful, erotic female Indiana Jones, hell bent on a venture-quest through time, pursued both in real-time and past-time by enemies as dangerous (and sexy) as she is.

This is an exciting read, a great series with a strong, fascinating heroine, a real feeling for ancient, exotic locals, a great blend of the erotic, the romantic, the adventurous.
I got off to a bad start when I began reading this book because I felt I'd been slammed straight into the story instead of being teased into it.. This was especially the case when I then found the story I'd been slammed into just a little on the dull side.

However, I persevered and found that as I got to know the main players better I started to enjoy the book. Whether I'll move on to the second book is not at present clear though, because I have to say the book isn't really what I want to read. Something I have to make clear here though is that when I started reading the book I knew there were others in the series, so although I expected a story that was reasonably complete within itself, I knew that to get the full story I'd have to read more books. Some authors who don't let you know this aren't really playing fair.

My next question is, exactly what genre is The Red Mirror supposed to be in? It involves time travel, so that makes it sci-fi, but on the other hand I can see it's a book that might appeal to women more than men because it has definite shades of romantic fiction about it (romantic fiction is absolutely what I don't read. However I will admit to reading one once because a friend had written it. What I realized as I read it is that any book has to have a story to it, it's simply not enough to have romance on its own, and that's why I see the Red Mirror as being romantic fiction merged with sci-fi).

As a male there is always the question of how do I relate to a female main character especially when the story is written first person? Actually it isn't a problem because as well as being a sexy woman, Isis has got a lot about her and is a reasonably believable heroin (and she's quite capable of committing murder when the occasion demands).

Something I will certainly say for Ms Gore is that the level of description in her writing is quite amazing. It's like reading Cider with Rosie over again. On the other hand, the downside is that putting in a lot of descriptive text draws out what is actually quite "thin" story to full-book length.

What else didn't I like about the book? Well, something I have a bee in my bonnet about is getting slagged off by people complaining about point of view changes in my own books when these are actually quite well handled. My view is that if a construction works, then it's OK to use it. For the most part, The Red Mirror is in first person and that means it's pretty much impossible to avoid some POV changes, but I felt that many in this book were gratingly bad. For example using the construction "I didn't see" (that something had happened). Well obviously she (the heroine) didn't see it because she wasn't there, but that doesn't make it right to describe what she had failed to see. There are better ways of achieving this.

Although the writing was for the most part easy to read I did find a small number of typos, but what annoyed me most was the endless stream of places where a fairly obvious and better way of describing something was missed. Considering that Ms Gore obviously has a talent for description it seemed odd that she'd missed so many chances to make her book better.

So, all in all I'm going to mark this book down as a 3 star (although I'm sure that someone who chose to read this particular genre would give it 4).

I have read both The Red Mirror and The Emerald Tablet and I can honestly say I have never read a more fast paced, interesting concept story (or continuing story put together). I really look forward to the 3rd book. My first take on the Red Mirror was visual (I am an artist)....we now live 3,000 years after the story starts, and we are used to colorless monuments reduced to their primary skins....and this has suddenly allowed me to see in full color! I love the concept of many lives, many mansions, many times living with the same group of souls....not to mention the really fun sex educations....! I think it has become very apparent to many that we do indeed come back with the same souls in many lives....I am really looking forward to the next incarnation of Isis.....that is, after the Emerald Tablet. I also think it could be a very interesting film....
i'm a sucker for stories set in the ancient world l, even before I traveled to the modern versions as a young girl. The time travel between ancient world and modern Las Vegas added even more to the experience. I couldn't put this book down, read late into the night, and really didn't want to go to sleep. Not even halfway into this book I was thankful there were two more advwnturea to travel through. Such a strong female character following her own path, not letting the men she encounters over and over again define who she is but rather the women she becomes define who she is but rather the women she becomes a and depth add depth and breath to the woman she wants to be for herself. Empowering.
